Wild Horse, 3 strand necklace

$119.95

Wild Horse is a 3 strand necklace of Picture Jasper, Turquoise rounds and Wild Horse Jasper rondelles which gave this necklace it's name! I used Delica Glass spacer beads and a Sterling Silver slide and lock clasp to finish Wild Horse. The shortest strand is 16 1/4 inches long and the longest one is 20 1/4 inches long. I think of wild horses are something of the southwest USA, but I know that they live all around the world! The power behind the magic and medicine of the horse is remarkable, and I've tried to show that power in a lovely way with this statement necklace.

firemountaingems.com says, "Picture this: As far as you can see, the landscape is filled with mountains that rise one beyond the other, like some John Ford western film. Picture jasper is most reminiscent of the dusty Old West's vast sandy expanse with golden brown and red stone "mountains" rising like ancient castles from it.

Jasper is an opaque chalcedony that comes in a wide variety of colors. The term "jasper" itself comes from the Greek work iaspi, meaning "spotted stone." Jasper is a gemstone that has been used all over the world. The ancient priests of Egypt carved jasper into beautiful jewelry while the Minoans used jasper for seals. While jasper is widely available today, the gemstone was once treasured as a valuable stone.

Like all jasper, the rich designs and colors of this opaque chalcedony first made it a highly popular ornamental material for vases, mantels, etc. Today it's an ideal gemstone for jewelry with a southwestern look.

Picture jasper is a landscape stone that's believed to help us find our place in the world. When we've stepped off the path or gone down a path we never intended, picture jasper is thought to give the time and space alone to sort through things. This stone is also thought to aid inner silence and strengthen the recall of early memories, so they can be understood and processed. Among practitioners of gemstone healing, picture jasper is a powerful grounding stone that promotes connection to the earth.

Some view this stone as a direct message from the Earth itself, instilling a sense of proportion, bringing comfort, alleviating fear and cultivating harmony. Although it is not an official birthstone, picture jasper is affiliated with the astrological sign Leo."

"Turquoise, a stone ranging in color from blue to green to yellow, is filled with wonderful patterns of brown and black matrix that are composed mainly of copper deposits. Although turquoise has captivated man's imagination for centuries, no one is sure exactly when it was discovered. It is believed that prehistoric people used and prized it for its blue-green colors because carved pieces have been found in burial and archeological sites spanning the globe.

The beauty and history of turquoise is hard to match! Steeped in history and intrigue, it is truly a captivating stone. It has been used in religion, art, trade, treaty negotiations and of course as treasured jewelry to many kingdoms and peoples. Whether you study ancient Egyptians, Chinese Dynasties, Aztec Mythology or Native American people, it seems clear that turquoise has always been and always will be considered a stone of life, beauty and good fortune.

Turquoise is one of the official birthstones for the month of December, and is heralded as the stone of communication. It encourages enthusiasm, thus inspiring new projects and bringing to light undiscovered artistic abilities. Turquoise also provides understanding and encourages attention to detail while attracting prosperity and success.

The sprawling lines of coppery matrix provide a large amount of energy to its wearer. This may be one reason why the stone has long been prized as a powerful talisman with healing properties. It is believed that turquoise can help balance the blue throat chakra, enhancing the ability to communicate while increasing resistance to viruses, helping to relieve sore throats and allergies."

I have been told that these Wild Horse beads are a type of Asian Turquoise or that they are actually Wild Horse Jasper or Magnesite! Just in case I was mis-informed, here is this information from charmsoflight.com. "Magnesite instills deep peace during meditation. Placed on the third eye, this stone enhances visualisation and imagery, and can promote dynamic and revolutionary ideas. It assists in producing an opening of the crown chakra. It also opens the heart chakra and stimulates heartfelt love.

Magnesite brings all forms of self-deceit to the surface. It brings grounding to the intellect and helps to recognise unconscious thoughts and feelings. It induces a positive attitude to life.

Magnesite brings a calming effect to the emotions, promoting tolerance for emotional stress. It supports people who are nervous and fearful and helps them to overcome irritability and intolerance.

Magnesite aids in the absorption of magnesium in the body. It purifies and detoxifies the cells and assists in the treatment of convulsions by acting as a muscle relaxant. This stone can help to neutralise body odour, and treats PMS, stomach, intestinal, and vascular cramps, as well as the pain from gallbladder and kidney stones. Magnesite treats bone and teeth disorders and can be used to both stimulate and soothe the heart and associated arteries. It regulates body temperature, lessening fevers and chills."
