firemountaingems.com says, "Turquoise, a stone ranging in color from blue to green to yellow, is filled with wonderful patterns of brown and black matrix that are composed mainly of copper deposits. Although turquoise has captivated man's imagination for centuries, no one is sure exactly when it was discovered. It is believed that prehistoric people used and prized it for its blue-green colors, because carved pieces have been found in burial and archeological sites spanning the globe.
The beauty and history of turquoise is hard to match! Steeped in history and intrigue, it is truly a captivating stone. It has been used in religion, art, trade, treaty negotiations and of course as treasured jewelry to many kingdoms and peoples. Whether you study ancient Egyptians, Chinese Dynasties, Aztec Mythology or Native American people, it seems clear that turquoise has always been and always will be considered a stone of life, beauty and good fortune.
Turquoise is one of the official birthstones for the month of December and is heralded as the stone of communication. It is thought to encourage enthusiasm, thus inspiring new projects and bringing to light undiscovered artistic abilities. Turquoise is also believed to provide understanding and encourage attention to detail while attracting prosperity and success.
The sprawling lines of coppery matrix provide a large amount of energy to its wearer. This may be one reason why the stone has long been prized as a powerful talisman with healing properties."
"Prehnite was officially named in 1788 after a Dutch colonel named Hendrik von (or van) Prehn. Prehn--a naturalist and mineral collector--was given credit for discovering the stone in 1774, at the Cape of Good Hope in modern South Africa.
This stone has been given a number of other names over the years, including adelite, chiltonite, chrysolite of sage, coupholite, Karoo stone, grape jade and more.
Prehnite is considered a "stone of dreaming"; it is believed to increase the power of the dream state, strengthen lucid dreaming and promote communication with other planes of existence. It is also considered a "stone of prophecy," with long use by indigenous peoples of South Africa.
Although not a birthstone, prehnite is affiliated with the zodiac sign Libra. It is often associated with the third eye chakra."
"Jasper, an opaque chalcedony, comes in a wide variety of colors, each with unique patterning. Autumn jasper is the variety of jasper known for its mottled warm brick red and avocado green appearance. The term "jasper" itself comes from the Greek work iaspi, which means "spotted stone." Jasper in general has been a gemstone used all over the world, worn by ancient Egyptian priests and carved as seals by the Minoans. While jasper is more widely available today, jasper was once considered a valuable stone.
Jasper is considered a powerful healing stone. Autumn jasper meaning is said to include helping us move beyond just surviving to making us glad to be alive. Imagine pumpkins, red maple leaves and a long leisurely walk through the country that helps you kick back and relax. The heat of summer is over and the evenings are just cool enough to light a fire in the woodstove or fireplace. Life is good. Somehow you'd forgotten. That's what autumn jasper reminds us of whenever we wear it. Autumn jasper is believed to help to ground and center the wearer, providing support while inspiring tranquility. Autumn jasper meaning is purported to include dispelling personal and environmental negative energy, helping the individual reconnect with the Earth."
thegemlibrary.com says, "Poppy Jasper is believed to be a symbol of courage, wisdom, and protection, and is said to reduce stress, improve communication and organization, and bring emotional balance with an improved joyful outlook. It can also increase one’s compassion and sympathy for others and has a worry stone quality that can sustain and support one through times of stress."
Tatanka is a great year round necklace!
