Rock Art, Jasper necklace

$109.95

Rock Art is a 24 1/2 inch long single strand Picture Jasper and Silver Leaf Jasper necklace with a Sterling Silver toggle clasp. It's varied colors and interesting matrix within the beads reminds me of Petroglyphs or simply put, ancient rock art. I love the varied colors too. This necklace will go with so many outfits!

According to firemountaingems.com, "Picture jasper is a landscape stone that's believed to help us find our place in the world. When we've stepped off the path or gone down a path we never intended, picture jasper is thought to give the time and space alone to sort through things. This stone is also thought to aid inner silence and strengthen the recall of early memories, so they can be understood and processed. Among practitioners of gemstone healing, picture jasper is a powerful grounding stone that promotes connection to the earth.

Some view this stone as a direct message from the Earth itself, instilling a sense of proportion, bringing comfort, alleviating fear and cultivating harmony. Although it is not an official birthstone, picture jasper is affiliated with the astrological sign Leo."

"Natural sophistication. That's what Mother Nature got when she combined grey, black and white in a swirling pattern.

Jasper is an opaque chalcedony that comes in a wide variety of colors. The term "jasper" itself comes from the Greek work iaspi, meaning "spotted stone." Jasper is a gemstone that has been used all over the world. The ancient priests of Egypt carved jasper into beautiful jewelry while the Minoans used jasper for seals. Its one-of-a-kind patterns have made it widely popular since antiquity when it was also used for amulets against drought. While jasper is widely available today, the gemstone was once treasured as a valuable stone. Like all jasper, the subtle designs and colors of this opaque chalcedony made it a highly popular ornamental material for vases, mantels, etc. Today it's an ideal gemstone for jewelry with a sophisticated, monochromatic look.

With its balance of colors, silver leaf jasper is a stone that promotes balance. It provides strength of purpose, promotes stability and--like all Jaspers--is a grounding stone. During meditation, it is believed to awaken its holders to a sense of joy. Like all black/grey stones, silver leaf jasper also encourages willpower. It's worn by independent, highly disciplined people--or by people who aren't highly disciplined but would like to be! Reiki practitioners have been known to use silver leaf jasper as a wholistic or whole-body wellness stone."

The ample length means that for many folks it's long enough to slip over their heads! Handy. Also, this is a great year round piece as it will look good with a sweater or a summer top.
