Garden. 3 strand necklace of Gaspeite, Peridot, Smoky Quartz and Stering Silver

$259.95

I had this favorite pair of earrings. They had bezel set Gaspeidte, faceted Peridot and faceted Smoky Quartz gemstones in Sterling Silver...but sadly, one of them was lost. I've hoped to find it for a long time, but... it never appeared! So the remaining gorgeous earring is the focal pendant and inspiration for this necklace called Garden.

I used Gaspeite Heishi beads, Peridot facets and Smoky quartz facets to echo the pendant. It's super sparkly and I love that! Looks a bit like the garden after a light rain to me!

The clasp is very special. It's Sterling Silver in a beehive shape with another round faceted Peridot bezel set. The mechanism is a sturdy slide and lock. You could easily wear this with the clasp in the front and the pendant down between you shoulder blades!!

According to firemountaingems.com, "Gaspéite is a rare mineral, found in only a few places. Pronounced GAS-pee-ite, it was named after its original location of discovery, the Gaspé Peninsula of Quebec, Canada. Gaspéite is a bright yellow to apple green color with brownish veining. It was originally considered only a gangue mineral—a stone which contains a unextractable metal ore in its makeup.

Gaspéite has been traditionally used among Australian Aboriginal peoples as a vision stone. Gaspéite meaning is also associated with healing and weight loss. Gaspéite meaning is affiliated with the heart and solar plexus chakras."

Peridot happens to be the birthstone for August. "Shimmering, pale green Peridot—often called the evening emerald—is a gemstone commonly associated with spirituality and expression. The word "peridot" can be pronounced either "PAIR-uh-doe" or "PAIR-uh-dot." Its name comes from the French word peritôt, meaning unclear, referring to the many inclusions and internal fractures often found within Peridot gemstone beads. Before the word peridot was commonly used, chrysolite (an older German word) described the gem.

Sometimes referred to as olivine, Peridot is found only in green, varying from olive to brownish green. This color was so prized by ancient admirers that it was often mistaken for emerald. Peridot is the national gem of Egypt, and historians now believe many of Cleopatra’s "emeralds" were actually deep green Peridots mined in Egypt.

Ancient Egyptians called Peridot the "gem of the sun," and records show mining as early as 1500 B.C. on Topazo Island (now St. John’s Island) in the Red Sea. According to legend, miners gathered glowing Peridots at night by lantern light and marked the spots to dig during the day.

During the Middle Ages, European emissaries returned with Peridot stones, decorating churches and royal robes. A large Peridot, once thought to be an emerald, adorns the shrine of the Three Holy Kings in Cologne Cathedral. Peridot is also mentioned in the Bible as part of Aaron's breastplate and the foundation stones of the New Jerusalem.

Some Peridot crystals are extraterrestrial, found in meteorites that fell to Earth, such as a meteorite discovered in Siberia in 1749. Scientists also believe Peridot makes up part of the moon’s mantle, linking this gem to both Earth and the cosmos.

Peridot, the birthstone for August, is traditionally given for 16th wedding anniversaries. Known as the stone of compassion, Peridot properties are believed to promote good health, restful sleep, and harmonious relationships by balancing emotions and mind.

This cheerful green stone is also thought to enhance eloquence, creativity, and delight while calming anger and attracting love. Legends suggest that Peridot set in gold can unleash its full protective potential, guarding against nightmares and negative energies. Roman philosopher Pliny the Elder wrote that wearing Peridot on the right arm maximized its protective powers.

Peridot has long been treasured as a gemstone for strengthening friendships, fostering renewal, and warding off envious thoughts."

Finally, they say, "Alluring Smoky Quartz (also known as smoky topaz*), named for its smoky color, is formed when rock crystal is naturally irradiated. (Its frequent inclusions of rutile needles, by the way, do not affect its quality.) Smoky Quartz ranges in color from light grayish-brown to deep black. It is most typically transparent to translucent but can be opaque. Flat planes of Smoky Quartz were used by the Chinese in the 12th century for sunglasses. A variety of Smoky Quartz called cairngorm, found in the Cairngorm Mountains of Scotland, is used in Scottish jewelry and as a decoration on kilt pins. Smoky Quartz is used in a variety of jewelry, especially ring and pendant centerpieces. Lesser quality stones, usually with a lighter color, are used as beads or cabochons.

Smoky Quartz is prized for its perceived ability to ward off stress while promoting tolerance and resolve in difficult situations. It is thought to be a protective stone, with a strong association with the earth and base chakras, making it ideal for environmental consciousness. Smoky Quartz meaning is also linked to countering fear, overcoming depression and bringing about emotional stability while facilitating positive, practical thinking with clear insights."

No wonder I loved those earrings! Now you can enjoy the benefits of beauty of this magical gemstone combination!
